Romans 1:16-“For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the POWER of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes; to the Jew and also the Gentile.”
We should never underestimate the power of the Word of God. The Word of God possesses the very essence of who God is, His character and His nature. The CORE of who God is is that He is good (1 Chronicles 16:34). And because of that being who He actually is, His love for us never wavers. Most people view God as an unstable schizophrenic who’s mood changes according to the circumstances. A recent survey’s findings said that 73% of Christians believe that God is angry, judgmental, uncaring and distant. In other words, if you’ve been good, then He is happy with you. If you’ve messed up and sinned, then His mood changes, so He is mad at you. We need to understand that God and the GOSPEL are fixed and established upon the truth that Christ paid the total complete price for our SALVATION. The truth of God’s goodness is true for the believer and the unbeliever. That is why it is GOOD NEWS! And that doesn’t change according to our behavior. But salvation is received and experienced in our lives through FAITH. One of the differences between the believer and the unbeliever is that the believer has placed their faith in Christ and His completed work, so now faith releases the POWER of GOD into the believer’s life empowering them to live out the life of Christ. For us as believers that means one-ness with the Father now empowers us to live as Christ lived with power over sin and every work of darkness (John 10:30). In spite of religious unbelief, Jesus was the expression of the gospel, meaning that if Jesus did it, we can do it, we can have it, and experience it in our lives.
The truth of God’s goodness is true for the believer and unbeliever.
The Apostle Paul tells us in Romans 1:16 that we are not to be ashamed of the gospel. The tactic of the enemy is to keep us shamed. And what do we do when we are ashamed? We attempt to hide the thing that brings us shame. The enemy’s lie is to beat us up with shame which causes us to live guilt-ridden lives, so we hide just like Adam did from the very one (our Father) who loves us and forgives us. As long as we are living in shame, we cannot experience the POWER of the GOSPEL that sets us free. The enemy knows that if he can keep you in shame, you will never live in victory. And when we allow his deception to control us, we will also be ashamed of the gospel. As long as we are living in shame, our lives and testimony will not be filled with power. Meaning that we will live powerless lives with no influence with others.
I remember being in high school and occasionally having an acne problem. I felt embarrassed and ashamed. So, what did I do? I would usually get out the acne ointment and attempt to cover up the blemish. If it was a bad one, I would try to stay away from others. God says in 1 John 1:7, “If we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the BLOOD of JESUS cleanses us from ALL sin.” The light of Christ doesn’t reveal anything in our lives to shame us or condemn us but rather to reveal His love for us, and to bring us back to a place of unhindered fellowship with Him and others. But when we do sin, the Holy Spirit always draws us to Christ so that we can REPENT (1 John 1:9). And when we do repent, we are actually uncovering the infraction of our relationship and applying the healing ointment of the BLOOD of CHRIST so that we can have continual fellowship with Jesus and His blood (which keeps us free from guilt and shame).
Today I want to encourage you to apply the healing ointment (the BLOOD OF CHRIST)to any area of your life or anything in your life so that you can experience the POWER of the GOSPEL that will set you free from all guilt and shame, all sin and every sickness or disease.
The Power of the Gospel will set you free from all guilt and shame.
My prayer for you today is that you will allow the Holy Spirit to search your heart and allow the POWER of the GOSPEL to set you free.
Pointing People to Jesus,
“On Earth as it is in Heaven!”
